1. Wanted: Buddies from Faculty 5 and 6

We are already actively matching for the upcoming summer term, but we need your help. Unfortunately, we're running low on Buddies from Faculty 5 and 6. So, if you're already a Buddy from one of these faculties and want to be matched, please check your profile and/or contact us directly so we can make the match. Our database is large and not always up to date.

If you have friends who want to become a Buddy, now is the perfect time to encourage them! Just have them contact us to participate in the next virtual training session at bebuddy@rwth-aachen.de.

2. Improve Your German Skills

The Language Center of RWTH Aachen offers three German courses to support your studies and career. You can register for one, two, or all three courses. A certificate will be issued upon regular participation.

Course Period: April 14, 2025 - July 18, 2025
Registration Deadline: March 24, 2025
How to Register: Email flucht@rwth-aachen.de with a double-sided copy of your residence permit and Blue Card.

Course 1: Intensive Grammar Training (Tuesdays, 12:30 - 2:00 PM, online)
Review essential grammar, assess weaknesses, and develop exercises for self-study. Level: From B1.1

Course 2: Speaking & Presenting (Technical German) (Wednesdays, 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM, online)
Enhance STEM-related language skills, improve presentations, and discuss intercultural challenges. Level: From B1.2

Course 3: German for Work & Career (Wednesdays, 8:30 - 10:00 AM, online)
Prepare for workplace communication, learn job-related vocabulary, and understand professional etiquette. Level: From B1.2

3. BeBuddy Stammtisch: We Need a New Organizer!

Some of you may have already joined our regular Meetup, the BeBuddy Stammtisch. What’s a Stammtisch? It's a very typical German tradition. People gather at a bar to enjoy a cold drink, chat about recent events, or maybe just complain about the rainy weather. For the BeBuddy Program, it's a great way to stay connected and meet new people.

We’re looking for someone to organize it for the next four months: reserve a table for one gathering each month on a weekday. After each meeting, you'll just need to provide a short report to the BeBuddy Program coordinator.

In addition to deepening your intercultural network, organizing the BeBuddy Stammtisch counts as part of the Certificate International. If you enjoy being in a diverse environment and have a knack for organization, please email leonie.hafen@zhv.rwth-aachen.de.

4. Warning: Fake Websites for Broadcasting Fee Registration

In Germany, everyone must pay a broadcasting fee to access public media online, on radio, and TV. The registration or address change is free and must be done through the official website.

Beware of fake sites like https://dein-rundfunkbeitrag.de/ that charge €39.90 for the same service!

If you encounter fraud, contact the Consumer Protection Agency.
