High-level visit at the AI Center: Städteregionsrat, Oberbürgermeister and Beigeordneter as Guests
It is no secret that the AI Center at RWTH Aachen University, with its scientific expertise, reaches not only researchers but also interested parties and institutions from across the Aachen metropolitan region. Events such as AI Weeks 2023 and 2025 always aim to inspire the public and make the much-discussed topic of “AI” relatable to everyday life and understandable for everyone. The leadership team at the AI Center is not only involved in technical research and development, but also actively engaged in structural change in the Rhineland mining region. The state government of North Rhine-Westphalia calls this forward-looking transformation process “Von der Kohle zu KI,” in which the Jülich supercomputer JUPITER and the emerging AI Factory will also play a major role. To find out about the latest developments in AI research and AI made in Aachen, city region council Dr. Tim Grüttemeier, Mayor Dr. Michael Ziemons, and Aachen city councilor for Housing, Social Affairs, and Economic Affairs Thomas Hissel visited the AI Center at RWTH Aachen University. They were very interested and supportive.
