Librarians from Ukraine Visit RWTH
Nataliia Moroz and Nataliia Kalinichenko spent nearly 40 hours traveling from Chernihiv, Ukraine, to RWTH Aachen University. Their visit from April 22 to 25 reflects a professional partnership forged under extraordinary circumstances. While the war continues in their home country, Ukrainian and German university libraries are actively expanding their collaboration.
The occasion for their trip was a conference for academic librarians organized by the German Library Association (dbv). At RWTH, the two librarians from Chernihiv Polytechnic National University spoke about their work under wartime conditions.
Three Universities, One Goal: AI that Puts People First
Driven by a shared purpose, the Center for Artificial Intelligence at RWTH Aachen University, the Technical University of Darmstadt (in partnership with hessian.ai), and the L3S AI Research Center at Leibniz University Hannover have established the AI Synergy Alliance. 40 Years of Cooperation Between RWTH and Zhejiang University
RWTH Aachen University and Zhejiang University jointly hosted the Sino-German Sustainable Development Forum in Aachen. RWTH Study: Fuel Rebate Would Primarily Benefit High-Income Households
A government fuel rebate—effectively a fuel price subsidy—could provide short-term relief for households but would come at a high cost to the public budget and lead to higher fuel consumption. Against the backdrop of sharply rising fuel prices amid geopolitical tensions, government intervention to reduce prices at the pump is once again under discussion. In their analysis, Professor Aaron Praktiknjo and Karl Seeger from RWTH’s Chair of Energy Systems Economics examine how a fuel price subsidy would affect household budgets, income distribution, and fuel demand.
RWTH Named Among World’s Top Universities
TIME magazine has published its first-ever ranking of the world’s top 500 universities.
Out of more than 400 German institutions, only 44 were included. RWTH Aachen University earned an impressive 120th place globally and an outstanding seventh place among German universities.
Universities were evaluated using a range of indicators across three primary pillars: academic capacity and performance, innovation and economic impact, and global engagement. Internationalization was measured by the number of staff and students from abroad. With 68.82 points, RWTH is ranked 89th worldwide and second nationally.
