Next-Generation University: RWTH Retains Excellence Status
The successful evaluation ensures RWTH Aachen University will continue to receive federal and state funding under the Excellence Strategy for the next seven years.
The goal is clearly defined: RWTH Aachen University is committed to becoming a next-generation institution—one that forges new pathways for science, industry, and society through a shared ethos of excellence, responsibility, and community. These values were highlighted in the opening of the University’s recent self-report for the Excellence Strategy evaluation, which has now concluded with outstanding results.
At a press conference, leaders including Professor Wolfgang Wick, Chair of the German Science and Humanities Council, Professor Katja Becker, President of the German Research Foundation and Chair of the Committee of Experts and the Excellence Commission, Dorothee Bär, Federal Minister of Research, Technology and Space and Chair of the Joint Science Conference (GWK), and Falko Mohrs, Lower Saxony Minister for Science and Culture and Deputy Chair of the GWK announced that RWTH Aachen University will continue to receive the prestigious federal and state funding through the Excellence Strategy for the next seven years, beginning January 1, 2027.
