A Word From the Rector

Dear Readers,

What is it that RWTH Aachen University really stands for? RWTH or Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule was founded in 1870. Since then it has made a name for itself as an Integrated Interdisciplinary University of Science and Technology that boldly tackles global challenges, proving time and again how it contributes to solving these challenges.

With this approach, we proudly continue to be one of the select Universities of Excellence in Germany and rank among the best technical universities in Europe. Three key terms, which also featured in the title of our University of Excellence proposal, particularly embody our approach: Knowledge. Impact. Networks.

We generate relevant knowledge, conduct research with our network partners – comprising of other universities, non-university research institutions, and industry partners – and create a positive social impact, both on our own and in cooperation with these networks.
